- The vehicle’s tail lights will then be linked to a contact socket fitting. You can check for existing wiring. The wiring is often hidden behind the back bumper of SUVs and trucks. Either the cable is left exposed, twisted, or connected to a plug. Each wire is represented by a colour scheme. The groundwire on most vehicles is white. - This is where the line is attached. The primary ball shaft of a bumper ball hitch is pushed into the bumper hole and secured with nuts and washer locks. A rack-mount harness is pre-drilled into the chassis. The gaps are found between and beneath the frame plates of the vehicle. Holes are frequently matched to the hitch type of the car. Drill the holes if the holes don’t fit. The trailer hitch should be placed so that it does not interfere with the tailpipe or bumper. Make a mark on the frame where the holes will be drilled. Drill the holes to fit the bolts you’re using. Add the hook to the apertures once you’ve drilled all of the spaces. There should be no pieces that are misaligned. The relationship should be simple and straightforward. Holes should not be drilled unless they are for a ball hitch. Some bumpers are flimsy and incapable of towing trailers.
- To effectively test the hitch, the trailer should be empty and moving slowly. The trailer swings to each side without hindrance and is nimble if the hitch is placed correctly.
You may fasten the hitch with C-clamps to make sure it stays in place. When it comes to fastening the bolts, follow the manufacturer’s recommendations. Instead of attempting to replace the hitch, simply drill the required holes. Following the manufacturer’s instructions, electrical connections for turn signals and braking lights can be made.
